PROXIMA PARADA? Santander, SPAIN

We met at Stansted airport and as soon as we got on the plane we fought like little children on who gets to sit near the window. In the end we decided he could sit there for the journey and i could sit for the way back. Two hours later we were in not so sunny Spain! We took the bus to Santanders town centre and we were on a mision to find our hostal. We got lost even though it was a two minute walk from where we got off the bus and when we eventually got there we found it difficult to communicate with the owner of the hostal through the outdoor intercom! We were trying to tell him we had a reservation and the idiot didnt speak a word of english... I mean, how hard could it be "open the fucking door"!! Eventually a passer by could speak english and spanish so we had no problems getting in. We were greeted my this old man who i think tried to tell us he was sleeping before we knocked on the door! He showed us our room which was nice, it had a big tv, a double bed, two single beds, a big wardrobe, table and chairs AND a balcony! The view was amazing i would be smoking a cigarette whilst looking down at an alleyway and bins full of shit! But anyway we dropped our stuff and decided to go for a walk and get something to eat because we were so hungry so we went to the commercial centre and had a burger king. The next day we woke up at 7 in the morning and looked out of the window to see the streets filled with thick fog. We left the room to get the train to another part of Cantabria where the mountains were but we ended up getting on the wrong train and going to the end of the line which is Lierganes. The weirdest thing was when we got to Lierganes the sky was blue and there was sunshine, but 2 stops before that station you couldnt see a thing because the fog was that thick. From the train station i could see some mountains to the left of me so i said to him yeah we are going up those ones. Here are pictures of a few things we saw on the road that lead to the mountains.

As we were folling the road the mountain looked as if it was getting closer. We were passing houses with crazy dogs barking, horses etc... The town was nice and the air was fresh. It was a typical spanish town and we looked like we didnt belong there! So here is the mountain we were going to climb....

So anyway... we walked, we joked, we argued and we smoked. We were walking up the path that goes up the mountain passing small little houses with crazy guard dogs barking like they are hungry and your there lunch. I saw this VERY steep vertical muddy hill so like idiots we decided to climb it! From far down it didnt seem that high but we was hanging vertical for 20 minutes slipping and trying not to loose grip because if we fall were fucked!! It would be like jumping from a 8-10 floor building! Eventually we got to the top muddy and wet but we carried on! here are some pictures of the view and how high we were on the mountain. Enjoy!

The worst was to come... I took us off the path because i wanted to take a short cut... Big mistake!! Here's what happened in a script....

Nusense and Jeremy are walking down a path, further ahead nusense can see a house and 3 barking dogs running towards them. At first she thought they were on leashes but then she noticed they were getting closer and closer from far away.

"Jeremy" (Nusense)
"What?" (Jeremy)
"I dont think those dogs are on leashes" (Nusense)
"oh dont be silly of course they are, look!" (Jeremy)

The dogs were getting closer. Nusense and Jeremy stopped walking and stood there watching the dogs get closer"

"OHHHHHH FUUUUUCK RUUUUUUUUUUN" (Jeremy)

They ran back the other way, nusense ahead of jeremy for a quick second before being over taken and left behind!!

"YOU CUUUUUUUUUNT" (Nusense)

They turned around and the dogs were only 3 houses behind them, they turned a corner still running and the dogs stopped chasing! I said to him "you cunt you ran passed me and left me for the dogs" all was forgiven after i thought to myself somehow someway i will have my revenge! After all the pain we went through we finally got to the start of the mountain where Jeremy decided to sit down and not want to climb it! Here were his exact words "I've come this far and im staying here... I dont want to die in Spain"!!!

I ended up not climbing it until a bit later simply because i didnt want to leave him on his own even though he reassured me he will be ok. Eventually after lying down on the grass and catching some sun i climbed on my own.

The long way back to the train station was long and tiring and after a few pit stops for drinks we made it on the train and on the way back to Santander where we had a rest then went out to eat at a restaurant after walking about for 2 hours trying to find somewhere decent to eat. After that it was straight to bed!

The next day we decided to take a walk along the beach and eventually we ended up at a place called forestal park! There was obstacle courses going from tree to tree they had ropes, ladders, wire cables, the place was huge and the trees were so high! I didnt have much money on me so Jeremy payed for me and we both got strapped up with the equipment. I was doing very well but Jeremy looked like he was struggling he was going so slow! The funniest thing was when we were both on a platform on a very high tree and he had to connect his harness to the rope at the top to swing down into a net... But he is afraid of heights so he wouldnt make the jump SO I PUSHED HIM!!! hahaha!!! He was not entirely amused! We had a lot of fun that day, and the people that worked for that place gave us a life home in there car they were cool and on drugs so we had a lot to talk about from our knowledge! When we got back to the hostal that night we relaxed and i watched an american movie "mrs doubtfire" it was dubbed in spanish and i watched the full movie like i could understand it!

The next day was a sunday and as everything was closed there wasnt anything to do... We went back to Lierganes because it was so peaceful there! They had a market going on so i bought a few neclaces then we made our way back to the mountains. This time we went hiking on a path leading up the mountains and it was really nice i could see in the distance the mountain i climbed 2 days before...

We didnt get to finish our route because it was getting late and the commercial centre was closing and we were hungry and there wasnt that good restaurants open. So we both got a pizza then bought some food for the night.

The next day was our flight from Santander to Stansted at 18:25 so we had plenty of time to kill. We decided to go to the beach even though the weather was not that nice. As i was sunbathing, my child was making sand monuments.

Isnt he talented?!! We then made our way to the airport with sand in our hair, feet and cloths, we passed through the commercial centre and arrived at the airport. As we say all good things come to an end! Here are some photos from the end of our trip. PROXIMA PARADA? London Stansted.
